Acceptable Use Policy
Use the platform lawfully, only for legitimate industrial or research work, never to make anything designed to hurt people, and never to take or copy what is not yours. The full policy follows, reproduced as published.
Reproduced in full from MoleQuant’s Acceptable Use Policy, version 1.0. It forms part of the Terms of Use and of every customer agreement; where a signed agreement differs, that document prevails.
1. Why this Policy exists
MoleQuant builds AI tools that help chemical and materials companies find and check new materials. Used well, this saves time and money and reduces waste. Used badly, the same tools could be misused to cause harm, to copy our technology, or to expose other people's data. This Policy sets out what you may and may not do, how we watch for misuse, and what we do when something goes wrong.
In short: use the platform lawfully, only for legitimate industrial or research work, never to make anything designed to hurt people, and never to take or copy what is not yours.
2. Who and what it covers
- Everyone using the website, the platform, a trial or evaluation account, or any MoleQuant service.
- Everything you enter, upload, generate, download or do, including through scripts, tools or other people acting for you.
- It sits alongside the Terms of Use, any signed agreement, and the laws that apply to you. If there is a conflict, the signed agreement prevails, then the Terms of Use, then this Policy, except that where this Policy is stricter on safety it still applies.
3. What is not allowed
3.1 Dangerous and restricted substances
You must not use MoleQuant to enter, design, test, improve, describe, source or pursue any of the following, or to hide them by renaming, splitting or disguising them:
- Chemical-weapons agents and their precursors listed in Schedules 1, 2 and 3 of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
- Chemicals on the Australia Group control lists.
- Illegal drugs and their precursors controlled under the UN drug conventions (including INCB Tables I and II) or the law of your country.
- Explosives and explosives precursors that the law regulates.
- Any substance prohibited or controlled where you live or work, or that needs a licence you do not hold.
- Any substance, mixture or material intended to harm people, animals or the environment, or to be used as a weapon.
The platform screens for these. It does not find every case, so you remain responsible for knowing the law.
3.2 Protecting the platform and our technology
- Do not copy, scrape, record in bulk, reverse engineer, decompile or try to work out how the platform or its models work.
- Do not send automated or repeated queries designed to map, clone or train another model on the platform's behaviour.
- Do not use the platform or its results to build or improve a competing product, or benchmark it for a competitor.
- Do not bypass, test or disable limits, security, safety screening or access controls.
- Do not upload malware, overload the service, or try to reach systems or data that are not yours.
- Do not share logins, resell access, or let someone else use your account.
3.3 Data and confidentiality
- Upload only data you have the right to use. Do not upload another person's or company's confidential information without permission.
- Keep personal data to the minimum needed (business contact details are enough). Do not upload health data, payment-card data, government ID numbers, passwords or secrets.
- Do not upload classified or export-controlled technical data unless we have agreed in writing.
- Keep results and platform information confidential as your agreement says. Do not publish or post comparisons or reviews of the platform's performance without our written consent.
3.4 Honest and lawful use
- Do not use the platform for anything unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive or harmful, or in breach of sanctions or export-control law.
- Do not impersonate anyone, or give us false information about who you are or what you will use the platform for.
- Do not infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy.
3.5 Responsible use of AI results
Results are predictions. They are not laboratory data, test results or safety information. Therefore:
- Verify any material by laboratory testing, safety review and regulatory approval before you make, sell or rely on it.
- Do not use results for products meant for people, animals, food, medicines, cosmetics or drinking water without that verification.
- Do not present results as laboratory-verified, certified or approved when they are not. Carbon footprint results are estimates unless your agreement says otherwise and names the accreditation.
- Do not use results as the only basis for a decision that could cause injury, serious loss or environmental harm.
4. How we watch for misuse
- We also keep security and access logs, and may check account details against sanctions lists.
- We do not look through your data for other purposes, and we do not use it to train models for other customers.
- By using the platform you agree to this screening and review. It is not a data leak or breach of confidence.
5. What happens if you break this Policy
| Situation | What we may do |
|---|---|
| A clear match to a restricted-substance list, or reasonable suspicion of misuse | Block the request, suspend the account straight away (automatically if needed), keep evidence, and tell the compliance contact unless the law forbids it. We may report to the authorities. |
| An unclear item or unusual pattern | Hold the item for human review, normally within 24 hours, and ask you to explain the legitimate industrial purpose within 5 business days. |
| Repeated flags in a short period | Suspend the account pending review. |
| Copying, scraping, model extraction, bypassing security or sharing access | Warn, restrict, suspend or end access, and take legal action to protect our technology and confidential information. |
| Breaking the law, sanctions or export rules | End access immediately and cooperate with the authorities. |
| A minor or accidental breach | Warn you and explain how to fix it. |
We decide the action based on the seriousness, intent and risk. Suspension or ending does not entitle you to a refund where the cause was your breach. We are not responsible for blocking, delay or reporting that we make in good faith, even if it later proves unnecessary.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, write to legal@molequant.com within 14 days with your explanation. A second reviewer who was not involved in the first decision will look at it and reply, normally within 10 business days.
6. Reporting a problem
- Misuse or restricted-substance concern: legal@molequant.com
- Security vulnerability: legal@molequant.com. If you find a weakness in our website or platform, please tell us privately first and give us reasonable time to fix it. Do not access, change or copy anyone else's data, do not disrupt the service, and do not test on live customer environments. If you act in good faith and follow these rules, we will not take legal action against you for the research. We do not run a paid bounty programme.
- Emergency or imminent harm: contact the local emergency services first, then us.
7. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy to reflect new risks, laws or features. The current version is always on our website, and we will tell customers of material changes. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept it.
